How to create Invisible Folder Windows XP/Vista/7

Its an easy tutorial on How-To hide some private files of yours in invisible folder to avoid being used by other users in windows, its a simple trick but a useful one too. People today are keen towards making folders invisible to other users for the protection of their documents. Invisible folders have fewer chances to be accessed by others than the visible one.

Basically you cannot make a 'no named' (or 'space named') folder, but here we will show you how to do it and make it invisible to others anywhere in the computer.

How to create Invisible Folder without any software in Windows XP/Vista/7



Before starting you can try creating a folder with no name, and of course the folder will be back to its previous name. This is what this trick will let you do. Lets begin with us step-by-step.

  • Right click and make a New Folder.

  • Right click on the folder again and Go to Properties & Go to the 'Customize' Tab.customizetab[sugeek.net]

  • Click on 'Change Icon' and select the invisible one as highlighted in the image below to hide the folder's icon. Press OK to save.invisibleicon[sugeek.net]


Now, the folder's icon is hidden and now you have to rename the folder to a 'no-named' folder to make it invisible to the other users in the windows or any unauthorized user.

Making a Nameless folder



  • Right click on the folder and select rename

  • Now remove the text showing 'New Folder'

  • Now keep pressing ALT key (alter key) and type 0160. Type it using the numeric keypad on your keyboard and if you are on laptop then you have to enable 'Num Lock' and type from highlighted number keys.

  • Release the ALT key and press ENTER.

You have successfully created an invisible folder now as highlighted in the image above hidden from the rest of the users in windows.
